The Well Read Child Book Fairs was created to change the narrative one book at a time. Through our book fair initiatives, books are introduced to elementary-aged students with positive, uplifting, and motivating messages. These books relay messages of strength, beauty, determination, and highlights the uniqueness of people of color.

So without further ado, let's take a look at 4 books from The Well Read Child Book Fair that highlights black fatherhood.
1. Furqan's First Flat Top by Robert Liu-Trujillo

El Primer Corte de Mesita de Furqan's First Flat Top is a Spanish/English bilingual children's book written by father and talented artist Robert Liu-Trujillo.
Furqan is a 10 year old boy who wants to get his first high-top fade. Furqan and his father venture off to the barbershop for his first visit. This story highlights a boys first visit to the barbershop; as well as his tight-bond with his father who helps him navigate his first high-top fade experience.
